Postcards. For the birds!

June 3, 2010

Birds of AustraliaVanessa sent me this wonderful card from New South Wales, Australia. The collage of Australian birds are colorful and captivating:  Kookaburra, Wedge Tail Eagle, Emus, Rainbow Lorikeets, and Galah.

I wonder how fast an emu can run? Well, WikiAnswers tells me:

The average top speed of the Australian Emu is 50km an hour, or 31 mph, but they have actually been clocked at 75kph, according to the Australian website below. Average cruising speed is around 45 kph. Emus can also swim quite comfortably.
